Untamed Angling applied their famous concept of partnering with Indian Communities and their Associations when they established a long term Project with Kayapó Tribes and their representative Indigenous Association - Pykore and FUNAI.
Untamed Angling is founded on their endorsement and involvement, so we have established an honest relationship with the indigenous peoples in the Amazon Jungle. This transparent partnership provides a profit share (a fee per angler given to the community), as well as jobs for locals. We meet with our indigenous partners every year for an annual meeting to review numbers and program results, and to celebrate the year’s success.
There are a variety of unique destinations in the world - untouched locations where the journey there is half the adventure and life-changing experiences await you.
At Untamed Angling we seek them relentlessly, regardless of how remote they may be. We remain undeterred by obstacles or difficulties because we are instinctively driven by our adventurous spirit.
With amazing wilderness and an environmentally ethical experience, the Xingu offers more than an outstanding fishing trip - it is a journey to a remote and ancient native civilization who still live in harmony with their forest and the Xingu river. Experiencing their living myths of a spectacular river and jungle fish is possibly the angling adventure of a lifetime.
Involving Local Communities
A transparent, equitable partnership with indigenous people who own the land is key to the Kendjam Project. This long-term environmental and social project, which supported the Kayapó of the Iriri River in a sustainable way to develop new productive alternatives for their life while at the same time, protecting their land and culture and improving their life quality.
Scientific Biological Research and Wilderness Protection
As is with all of our destinations, Untamed Angling is deeply committed to protecting the ecosystem and preserving a way of life for the local community through sustainable fly fishing tourism. With our Kayapó partners in the Xingu, including the Associacao Floresta Protegida (AFP) and Brazilian Government institutions including the FUNAI - Brazilian Indigenous Foundation, and IBAMA – Brazilian Institute of Environment, Untamed Angling is actively supporting research programs and biological data collection to further understand the fishery and ecosystems.
Environmental Stewardship
We promote and practice sustainable operations through the use of renewable energy, proper waste treatment, recycling, and other actions to ensure minimal environmental impact and reduce our footprint. Unlike many other tourism enterprises, our destinations purposely accommodate only small groups of anglers in an effort to reduce environmental and social impact.
World Class Catch & Release Fishing
We work in a unique clear water environment, perhaps the last untouched river for several jungle species in the Amazon. Our goal is to provide anglers the very best fishing experience in its class. Protecting these waters will keep this fishery healthy for generations and will help local communities to move forward in a sustainable activity.
Involving Legal authorities
We work very closely and cooperatively with government agencies and local native communities in securing and maintaining the proper permits and licenses. This guarantees the exclusive use and control of the Xingu world-class fishery, ensuring a sustainable and non-consumptive use of the resource.
First Class Service
Untamed Angling has designed a unique working platform for all its projects: a team formed by a professional and an indigenous guide working together. The pro guide provides specific technical skills and the indigenous guide lends intensive knowledge of the forest and the fish. The lodge is located in the heart of the reserve and has unique eco buildings with exclusive service and attention.
